When we travel we bring our Jeep so we are able to utilize the Bureau of Land Management roads. Traveling on these unpaved roads we've discovered there's a lot more to see than just zipping up and down highways. Off roading, as it's called, gives you a up close and personal lay of the land.
During our trip to Sedona, Arizona we spent several days off roading for photography. One trip just south of Sedona brought us to a Native American cliff dwelling. Honanaki Ruins was occupied back in the 900 to 1100 time frame. It was amazing to see how the walls were built over a thousand years ago. Many of the mud areas holding the rocks together showed the fingerprints of those who build the wall; a solid connection to those who originally settled in Arizona.
