"A river seems a magical thing, a magical, moving, very living part of the earth itself." - Gilpin Rivers are extremely magical, especially to my city dwelling middle school students. Each year they would learn all about the lives of aquatic species.

During the last few weeks we would take our students canoeing. The amazement and joy in watching them experience life on the river was priceless. This particular reference is from one of my canoeing trips with my students.
