Have you ever been deep in hill country?  It's usually sparsely populated, with homes and farms speckled throughout the valleys. Hill country can be in any state or country. It's beautiful in all seasons, Hill country is peaceful and serene on the visual side yet, to make a living requires hard work, strength and perseverance. Hill people rely on themselves for everything, stores and repairmen are distant concepts. They grow their own food and build / repair their homes, farm equipment and cars. Neighbors help neighbors. Families rely on traditions and each other.

My family roots are in hill country. My mother spent her first decade deep in hill country living with her grandmother. This painting is a tribute to those hard working hill country people.
